Last night I listened to a book called The Secrete History of Home Economics written by Danielle Dreilinger. Revolutionary science for better living should not be kept a secrete. The women presented worked hard, got good educations and made the world a better place. Two not so secrete women in the story Betty Crocker who one of them was my sorority sister. And Eleanor Roosevelt who my grandma and her mother had for tea. Many more interesting women to read and listen about. The book ends with lets bring back home economics.

Critical thinking is part of home ec. How to choose what to eat. Think about it a class for kids to learn how to cook and shop. Class for adults on how to feed your self without spending all your pay on take out.

I used to teach cooking and nutrition for the food bank. Many people do not know what to with a bunch of ingredients, like a CSA food box. And it is hard to cook for only one person.
