What can we build out of ashes?

I have been thinking about what can be built out of ashes. What comes to mind is pottery glazes. Many techniques use ash. Mt Saint Helen’s ash is used. There is ash fired glazes. Since I feel like smashed clay. What pretty thing can be made out of this mess.
